Like a Wild Spring Day
Happy Earth Day!
I first became conscious of being “green,” and the impacts business and humans had on the environment when I took a course in college called Sustainable Business. The course kick-started my humanitarian heart, and I questioned what my part is in creating a safer, cleaner environment. I got curious about my ecological footprint and mindful of consumption and waste, the food I eat, the products I buy, and companies I support.
Yoga fosters a deeper connection to Self and an idea we are connected to something higher – to the Universe, Mother Nature, the Divine, God, whatever that meaning and word are for you.
As a practitioner of yoga, you learn awareness of the body and mind - the breath as a gentle guide to the present. Yoga is a journey inward, a roadmap to our hearts. It is an invitation to get still, breathe, and hold witness to the patterns and reactions of thoughts and emotions.
What we do on the mat and in mindfulness practices such as meditation and writing, to the food we eat and drink prepares us for the deeper work.
Yoga opens our hearts to allow for compassion and forgiveness to Self and others - a more abundant, purposeful life, one with intention.
How does the relationship with myself affect the one I have with others and the planet?
My emotional, physical, and mental health has a direct impact on my relationship with myself and others.
Practices that promote self-awareness, love, and worth have a direct impact on our physical and mental health and develop a sincere desire to take care of the environment that sustains us.
In the last five weeks, my appreciation for Mother Nature has expanded. She has held and guided me back home to a place where hope and faith reside, stability, and peace—a remarkable haven from the external noise, as well as my worries. The mountains, hills, lakes, rivers, forests, oceans, eco-systems and wildlife are the lungs of our planet. Let’s join together and do our part to make our world and creatures that roam free survive and thrive.
I share my unique voice in hopes to inspire a deeper connection to ourselves and the environment.
